About This Procedure:
To prevent tooth decay, fluoride gel treatment should be done every 3-6 months at the child’s wellness visits once they get their first tooth. A thin coat of fluoride varnish is brushed onto the child’s teeth. Fluoride is a mineral that protects the tooth's outer coating from decay and cavities.
Dentists also provide this service but younger children see a pediatrician or have wellness visits much more often than dental visits so it can be done regularly with the pediatrician.
Fluoride varnish often is covered by insurance up to age 6 though you may pay a share of the cost.

Included In This Price:
The price covers just this one service – often done in the dentist's office. This price does not include any other care like a visit, teeth cleaning or other dental care.
