About This Procedure:

Children age 3 and older should have their hearing tested several times in childhood particularly in the pre-school and early grade years.  Headphones are placed over the child’s ears; then the volume is set and the sound pitch shifts between low to high tones.  Hearing is tested by checking the child’s ability to hear and respond to the high and low tones.

Hearing loss in children is a major, and often hidden, health problem as it harms speech and language development and interferes with a child’s educational, cognitive and social development.

Screening tests for hearing loss are inexpensive and usually covered by insurance. This particular test is used for children, age 3 and older, and adults.  The hearing tests used for infants and very young children costs more.

Included In This Price:

The price covers just this one service – often done in the office by a practitioner.  This price does not include any other care like a visit, other tests or medications.
