About This Procedure:
Children, ages 5 to 11, should have a yearly check-up visit also called wellness care. These visits concern many aspects of a child’s health like physical exams, immunization shots, and behaviors -- following family rules, developing friendships, and doing tasks like brushing teeth and getting dressed. Once children reach age 7, the doctor and child may spend some time talking alone to help build their relationship.
These wellness visits are to see that that the child is healthy and, if any problems, to find them early and take the right steps for healthy growth and development.
Most, but not all, health insurance plans must cover these child preventive services at no cost to the family.
