About This Procedure:

The cystoscope, a thin tube with a lighted camera, is used to see inside the bladder and urethra which is the tube that leads to the bladder. The urinary tract area is numbed using a local anesthetic then the cystoscope is passed up through the urethra and bladder.

This procedure is used to look for problems like blockages, tumors, growths, or infections in the bladder or urethra. The symptoms for both men and women include blood in the urine, repeat urinary tract infections, bladder pain or difficulty urinating.

The procedure’s price varies a lot as it can be done in a number of settings – like a doctor’s office, an outpatient center, or a hospital outpatient department. This scope exam is an outpatient procedure that usually takes about 15-20 minutes; you return home the same day.
