HCA Data-Driven Insights
The Health Care Authority (HCA) purchases whole-person health care for nearly a third of the state's residents. We use our purchasing power to get high-quality care at the best price. We provide equitable, high-quality health care through innovative health policies and purchasing strategies.
HCA Projects
The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) and Office of Financial Management (OFM) transitioned management of the WA-APCD from OFM to HCA. In January 2020, the Washington State Health Care Authority became the WA-APCD program administrator. HCA uses the Washington State All-Payer Health Care Claims Database (WA-APCD) for various purposes, primarily to increase transparency and support healthcare improvements. For example, WA-APCD data is used to identify cost trends and drivers of cost growth in the health care system to inform the Cost Transparency Board as it works to curb spending growth.
